The Climate Bill that many are calling "Cap and Trade" is not about saving the environment from Global Warming, it is about the government take over of our Energy Markets. There is no proof that the limiting of carbon emissions will change the Global temperature and save our planet. Our planet has temperature flucuations, but it is not caused by man. It is pure arrogance to believe we can cause these flucuations to the weather systems created by God! As usual, the liberal environmentalists are ignoring history and pushing an agenda based on "feelings", not facts. There is not a consensus on Global Warming as there are just as many studies to disprove it as there are studies that Al Gore and other say prove Global Warming. I remember as a child in the 1970's these same environmentalists with their "Sky is falling" mentality screaming about us going through a stage of global cooling. They told us that if we did not stop our industry from posioning the planet, that we would cause another Ice Age. Thirty Five years later and I see no change in our temperatures. You think the same could be said for Global Warming? I say "YES".
This is another "crisis" being used by the Democrats in Congress and Mr. Obama (Until he shows me a valid long form Birth certificate, I cannot call him President) to take further control of our lives and ruin our economy. Solar and wind are not energy sources that can survive on their own in a free market without being forced by government legislation. I am not against "Green energy sources" as long as they can stand on their own and make sense to do. You may create some new "Green" jobs but you will be costing more jobs by mandating the energy companies to produce a certain percentage of their power from Green energy sources. Energy companies are going to have higher costs to produce "Green Energy" and higher taxes from the provisions of this bill if they still want to produce energy using oil, natural gas, etc... The higher costs will affect the company's bottom line which will mean laying off employees, reducing employee benefits, and passing the costs on to consumers in the cost of energy. I for one do not want my utility costs to double. I do not want the Federal government mandating the energy efficiency rating my house has to be in before I can sell it. Who knows what else is in this 1,500 page bill that was not read before being voted on.
I believe a better solution would be to get the Federal government out of our energy markets making it truly a free market. Repealing the Oil drilling ban on our coasts and in ANWAR, allowing new oil refineries to be built along with clean coal and nuclear plants. We have enough oil, natural gas, and coal reserves for our country to be energy self-sufficent for at least thirty years. My idea is to use these forms of energy and put the greatness of America to work with a challenge to look for other forms of energy to take their place. Forms of energy that can survive in a free market because they make economic sense to the energy companies. Forms of energy that do not have to be mandated by government that strengthen and help our economy and our people. Congress is blocking all of these things and pushing "Cap and Trade" as the solution. Their solution will only lead to greater government control over our lives, more lost jobs, and higher utility costs for all Americans. I ask you to join me in contacting your Senators and demand they vote NO on "Cap and Trade". We cannot afford the loss of liberty and economic impact it will have on our nation as a whole and each family if "Cap and Trade" becomes law.
